Community development work by Water Resources Department in addition to flood management works at Chamaria Satra in Kamrup (Rural) District
The historical Chamaria Satra was established in the year 1588 by Sri Borbishnu Ata on epithet of Sri Sankar Dev and Sri Madhab Dev. The Satra is situated on the bank of river Jaljali at Chamaria in Kamrup District. The Satra is the one of the seats of Vaishnavite culture in the entire southern part of Kamrup district and it has crossed the glorious 400 years with its own fame. But the ancient cultural hub was threatened by unabated erosion of river Jaljali.
Considering the gravity of the situation, Water Resources Department, Assam took up a protection scheme and accordingly executed it in the year 2013-14. Aside from protection work , beautification of the surrounding areas , children amusement parks with play item etc. were also carried out which will attract more people towards this place and may complement to its present value.
